ABSTRACT
An interview with Alex Wilson, group human resource (HR) director at BT and vice-president of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), is presented. According to Wilson, HR managers who talk about the company, business, market and competitors before people issues show that they understand the HR field. He mentions that BT has a 30-billion-pound debt when he joined in 2002. The director expresses his view on the moral responsibility of employers.
