ABSTRACT
An interview with artist and activist Fazal Sheikh is presented. When asked about how he started with photography, he asserts that he went to New York to study sculpture and ceramics with his teacher Toshiko Takaezu who encouraged him to take up some classes in other media like photography. He asserts that he developed an immediate rapport with his photography teacher Emmet Gowin. He relates that he opts for very formal portraits.
