An interview with writer Ted Conover is presented. He notes that the West has played a role in the development of outdoors travel and railroad tramps. Conover notes that the development of roads at the West has represented freedom and opportunity for travelers. He further concludes that the development of roads is the key to sustain the economy of the American cities.
