ABSTRACT
An interview with Joe Hurley, vice president of Bankrate.com, is presented. When asked about the biggest limitation in the structure of 529 plans, one restriction that he noticed is that confusion may arise since these are state-sponsored programs with states making their own 529 plans. He also said that the biggest mistake that 529 plan investors commit is trying to self-direct their 529 plans when it is not supposed to be self-directed. The future of prepaid tuition plan is also discussed.
