An interview with Bob McIntyre, former chief technical officer of Scientific Atlanta Inc., is presented. He asserts that content owners are faced with various challenges including the operating cost of distribution networks. He suggests that content owners should choose best-in-class distribution technologies to back error-free distribution. He claims that the key is to offer providers the tools to develop hybrid distribution models based on quality, cost, and quality of service.
