An interview with Craig Menear, Home Depot Inc.'s executive vice president of merchandising, is presented. When asked to compare 2008 with other years in terms of effort on the part of the merchandising, he mentions that the team has done a lot in the year that really changed how they run the business. He adds that new forecasting tools and assortment management tools have allowed them to do things differently, which begin to drive back great value for customers everyday.
