An interview with Ray Benson, recipient of the 2008 Les Paul Award, is presented. When asked about his early recording experiences, he relates the time when he started swing band Asleep at the Wheel in 1969 and was a technophobe. He says that when he produces music, he is into capturing feeling without sacrificing technique and sound quality. He adds that it is important for modern producers and engineers to understand vintage methods.
