ABSTRACT
An interview with Lois Ehlert, an author-illustrator, is presented. She recalls that she loved to read books and looked at illustration when she was a child. She relates that she preferred to cut and paste, and also used paper and glue. She reveals that in writing her books, she thinks of how the text will sound when read aloud and where a natural pause might be to take a breath.
