An interview with Darian Leader, psychoanalyst and author, is presented. When asked what the title of her book "The New Black" refers to, she relates that it refers to the vogue for the term depression. Leader shares what she found useful about Sigmund Freud's terms mourning and melancholia. She suggests a better option for people who feel depressed and who cannot afford to pay for long-term psychoterapy.
