ABSTRACT
An interview with Ronald Siarnicki, executive director of the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, about firefighting is presented. Siarnicki believes that fire chiefs should ensure that firefighters are physically fit because the primary cause of line-of-duty deaths is heart attacks. According to Siarnicki, it is critical to have a plan to address the long-term well being of the fire service family.
