ABSTRACT
An interview with Miroslav Stepan, the head of the Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic, and its spokesman Peter Kopacek about fire service is presented. Stepan reveals that the country has integrated its fire and rescue departments with the addition of another 90,000 firefighters. According to Kopacek, the money received by each department depends on the size of the region it belongs. INSET: THE MAN AT THE TOP.
