This article presents an interview with Brian Harris of IGA Coca-Cola Institute about category management. According to Harris, category management has not disproportionately benefited the supermarket channel, where it was birthed and matured. He believes, however, that grocers have achieved a rational standard for the management of products in categories, covering which old items stay or go, which new items are allowed in, and many others.
