This article presents an interview with recording engineer Matt Svobodny. Many engineers begin in sound reinforcement and then gravitate to studio work. This was not the case with recording engineer Matt Svobodny. Svobodny says that he carries a Yamaha 02R device to do six mono mixes and two thumper mixes for concert tours. He adds that his parents have a cabin in northern Minnesota and he likes to spend as much time as possible up there with his wife and dogs hiking and fishing for walleye and northern pike.
