ABSTRACT
An interview with Vimarsh Raina, director-pathology of Laboratory and Transfusion Medicine is presented. He discusses the role of technology to ensure the safety of blood transfusion in the blood banks in India. He highlights the difference between blood banking in the U.S. and India wherein the latter promote voluntary blood donations by various organizations. He cites the need for safety in channelizing the blood components for blood transfusion.
