ABSTRACT
The article presents statistics related to the U.S. pulp, paper and paperboard mills. According to economic and financial forecasting firm Global Insights Inc., there was an increase in revenue from $70.2 billion in the first quarter of 2003 to $66.9 billion in the fourth quarter of 2003. It is expected that it will further rise to $77.2 billion in the first quarter of 2005. The gross operating profit however declined from $25.3 billion in the first quarter of 2003 to $23.9 billion in the fourth quarter of 2003. However according to annual indicators, revenue declined from $71.6 billion in 1997 to $70 billion in 2002.
