ABSTRACT
The article presents statistics related to the U.S. paper and packaging industry. According to economic and financial forecasting firm Global Insights Inc., there was an increase in revenue from $158.4 billion in the first quarter of 2003 to $159.1 billion in the fourth quarter of 2003. It is expected that it will further rise to $185 billion in the first quarter of 2005. The gross operating profit also increased from $43.8 billion in the first quarter of 2003 to $44.8 billion in the fourth quarter of 2003. However according to annual indicators, revenue rose from $150.3 billion in 1997 to $151.6 billion in 2002.
