ABSTRACT
The article presents statistics related to the U.S. tobacco manufacturing industry. According to economic and financial forecasting firm Global Insights Inc., there was a decline in revenue from $46.9 billion in the first quarter of 2002 to $37.5 billion in the third quarter of 2003. It is expected that it will further decline to $34.3 billion by the end of 2004. The gross operating profit also declined from $33 billion in the first quarter of 2003 to $25.6 billion in the third quarter of 2003. However according to annual indicators, revenue rose from $34.4 billion in 1996 to $42.3 billion in 2002.
