Industry Profile
Industry Overview
The article presents information on the paper and packaging industry in the U.S. As with many other industries, such as steel and chemicals, the paper and packaging industry has become international. Many mills in the United States are foreign owned, companies such as Domtar Inc., Stora Enso, and Sappi Fine Paper are now major players in U.S. paper manufacturing. Meanwhile, U.S. corporations, such as International Paper, Weyerhaeuser and Georgia-Pacific, also own many production facilities abroad. Investment in foreign locations provides a competitive advantage with respect to selling into particular countries.
