The article presents statistics indicating the performance history and expected performance of the U.S. finance, insurance and real estate industry. The gross operating profit (GOP) for the third quarter of 2001 was $472.8 billion. GOP for the third quarter of 2002 is expected to be $515.0 billion. GOP for the first quarter of 2003 is expected to be $543.8 billion. Input cost of materials and services in the third quarter of 2002 is expected to be at $1959.6 billion and $472.8 billion for labor. The other fields being analyzed in the table includes revenue, industry price, and gross profit.
