ABSTRACT
The article analyzes the film "Upstream Color" directed by Shane Carruth. The author describes the film's philosophical themes as well as influences from impressionism and the book "Walden" by Henry David Thoreau as demonstrated through the film's narrative. Particular attention is also given to the plot, which the author states is difficult to follow, as well as the lack of dialogue through much of the film's final scenes.
