ABSTRACT
An essay is presented on the origin of eugenics with respect to the ideologies and theories of a Croatian physician Fran Srećko Gundrum on the subject of sexual hygiene, morality and heredity. Gundrum negated the notion of born criminals and born prostitutes and stated that the eradication of these ills will be convenient by the method of eugenics. Information on the humanistic ideas like the binomial illness and poverty of the prostitutes and its impact on medicine are also presented.
