ABSTRACT
An essay is presented on the launch of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Healthcare by the U.S. Green Building Council in April 2011. It discusses the need for an aligned effort to confront the mounting and persistent public health challenges in order to match the commitment to and benefits of greening healthcare facilities. The author also mentions the numerous green healthcare operational facilities, renovations, additions and new construction in the U.S. and abroad.
