The article presents an essay originally published in the book "Soliloquios en Inglaterra y soliloquios posteriores" by Spanish philosopher George Santayana and translated by Daniel Moreno. It offers a philosophical discussion of the concept of liberty and freedom, starting in the context of ancient Greek thought and as defined by the Christian Church and concluding with connotations of liberty at the beginning of the 20th Century.
