This essay critiques the work of American author and playwright Thornton Wilder. Wilder was highly acclaimed and popular during his lifetime and his works are still read and performed, yet he does not generally receive the adulation of some of his contemporaries. The author discusses some of his works such as "The Bridge of San Luis Rey" and "The Woman of Andros."
