ABSTRACT
An essay is presented on the painting "Morning Toilette" by the artist Kuroda Seiki of Japan. It discusses the controversy surrounding the original exhibition of the work due to its portrayal of a nude woman and its Western art influence. The social and political climate of Kyoto, Japan at the time of the painting's exhibition is explored.
