ABSTRACT
The article comments on several motion pictures which were presented during recent weeks on television. Some of them were: "Open City," "Stagecoach," "The Private Life of Henry VIII," "The Blue Angel, "Beauty and the Beast" and "Our Town." All these films are not only excellent to some degree, but they are superior to any of the new films. Most films are headed sooner or later for the TV plate. And it would be clear that a spectre is haunting Hollywood without any evidence drawn from films shown on TV: the continual widening of the screen is sufficient in itself to show how troubled and helpless Hollywood is.
