ABSTRACT
The article reflects on the undulating outcomes of perineal rectosigmoidectomy (PR). It is said that the altemeier procedure that combines PR with narrowing of the often gaping levator hiatus using interrupted absorbable sutures. It is also said that the peritoneal cavity need to be breached in the dissection to fully mobilize the rectum allowing for a more complete rectosigmoid resection.
