ABSTRACT
The author discusses factors to consider in minimizing infections in the intensive care unit (ICU). He references the article "Universal Glove and Gown Use and Acquisition of Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria in the ICU: A Randomized Trial" by A. D. Harris and colleagues, published within the issue. Questions that remain for what constitutes best practice in caring for critically ill patients are addressed. Adapting approaches to fit the epidemiology of specific ICUs is also considered.
