ABSTRACT
The editorial focuses on antimicrobial infusion or intravenous (IV) therapy to treat infection and on outpatient microbial therapy (OPAT) teams in Great Britain. The article notes the standard infusion process and offers a solution to the problem of patients' not getting the full dose of the antimicrobial drug from the infusion bag. The editor also notes OPAT should add sodium chloride 0.9 percent to the infusion bag when it appears empty to ensure patients get the full dose.
