ABSTRACT
The authors reflect on the correlation between Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) vaccination and reduction of asthma. It is believed that the exposure to attenuated mycobacterium of the BCG vaccine in the first months of life modulates the immune system against the development of atopy. But studies have shown that no significant differences were found on asthma prevalence between patients who received BCG vaccination and those who did not. They add that asthma is expressed by several phenotypes and with varying characteristics and intensity.
