ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the improvement of patients survivability regarding cardiac arrest in hospitals. He mentions that the patients survivability is being influenced by vasopressors and mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospitals. The author suggests that an emergency intubation service for cardiac arrest victims should be provided by the respiratory care department. The competency definition for respiratory therapist (RT) is also included.
