ABSTRACT
The author ponders on various issues and concepts related to Raman spectroscopy. He describes the applications of Raman spectroscopy in various disciplines such as biology, chemistry, archaeometry, forensic science and the pharmaceutical industry. He highlights the developments in the field of Raman spectroscopy, which include the introduction of new monochromatic radiation sources, fiber optics for remote measurements and Fourier transform (FT)-Raman spectroscopy. The author also demonstrates a positive outlook for Raman spectroscopy.
