ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the issue of regionalization of medical care in the U.S. He argues that the popularity of proposals to encourage the regionalization of medical care has declined over the years. The arguments in favor of regionalization have something to do with the possibilities for enhanced outcomes and lower costs. The cost-containment arguments in favor of regionalization are also discussed.
