ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the clinical manifestations of systemic rheumatic disease. The author discusses the significance of the advances in understanding of the pathogenesis of the disease which led to the discovery of critical mechanisms of inflammation and autoimmunity and to the development of new target-specific therapies. She also offers information on the association of the nutrition to the said disease.
