ABSTRACT
The author expresses views on a reformed Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) in the U.S. as of February 1940. It commends United Mine Workers (UMW) labor union leader John L. Lewis, who proposed the founding of the congress, for its contributions to the union. It differentiates the UMW from the CIO. Also noted is a mistake of turning the CIO into an auxiliary of the Democratic party through a gift of $469,384.91 committed by Lewis.
