ABSTRACT
The author comments on the article "Electron collection by a negatively charged sphere in a collisionless magnetoplasma," which appeared in the 2008 issue. He asserts that the work failed to demonstrate the significant effect of magnetic field on the plasma. He suggests that the authors of the work should performed calculations involving the electron and ion orbits in both the quasineutral plasma and the space charge sheath.

A new electron distribution function has been found in laser heated homogeneous plasmas by an analytical solution to the kinetic equation and by particle simulations. The basic kinetic model describes inverse bremsstrahlung absorption and electron-electron collisions. The non-Maxwellian...

For typical field-reversed ion ring experiments, an intense ion beam is injected across a plasma-filled magnetic cusp and propagated into a solenoidal field downstream. The characteristic time τ satisfies 27π/Ωe⪡τ⩽2πΩi and the background plasma can be modeled as...

We examine the effects on RF wave absorption of two different types of particle wave resonance decorrelations. These two mechanisms are collisions and parallel gradients in the magnetic field.
