In this article the author comments on the anti-Nazi resistance in Germany and on a number of plots to assassinate Adolph Hitler, dictator of Germany and principal architect of the Second World War. The piece was written on the occasion of the release of "Valkyrie," a 2008 film starring Tom Cruise and depicting the July 20, 1944 bomb plot against Hitler.
