ABSTRACT
The author explores the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in 2008 which greatly affects the market performance of the laser industry. He points out that IMTS was as upbeat and positive as a capital equipment trade show seemingly defying the bad news outside the halls. He stresses that company after company outlined niche markets that were generating sales because their customers had sales commitments that had to be filled using industrial laser processing.
