ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the position of U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson regarding the law on immigration in 1965. He states that the signing of the bill on October 3, 1965 was superceded by the announcement of Johnson that Cubans are accepted in the country. He explains that the initiative was done to appease the Latin nations and admonish the U.S. Congress. He concludes that the migration of Cubans will affect the state of Florida as almost 270,000 Cubans have entered the nation.
