ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the hopes and fears associated with the U.S. administration under Barack Obama, the newly elected first black U.S. President. He appreciates Obama's dignity to oppose the Iraq war which was supported by ex-president George W. Bush. He argues the concept of racism and its presence or absence in Obama's political tenure. He comments on the efficacy of the Obama administration on several topics such as building a wall along the Mexican border, and immigration.
