Catholics and Protestant Hymns

June 1911
America;6/17/1911, Vol. 5 Issue 10, p233
The author reflects on the issue of weather the song "Onward, Christian Soldiers" should be sung in church. In response to the Catholic journalist's statement that the song is in every respect Catholic, the author states that the journalist should be sure that the hymn is in regard to the material, the efficient, the formal, and the final and exemplary. The author also believes that the hymn itself is the material cause of a Catholic hymn.
