Vitamin A supplements in newborns and child survival

The author reflects on the health benefits of giving Vitamin A to infants. Health benefits which were sometimes seen when after giving Vitamin A to infants are mentioned, such as a decrease in deaths amongst Asian children with endemic maternal vitamin A deficiency. The author's opinions regarding the way in which conflicting studies regarding the impact of vitamin A on the health of infants should be interpreted are discussed.
