ABSTRACT
The author offers his insights on the role of the industrial sector in the U.S. economic slowdown. According to the author, the best way for manufacturing companies to respond to the economic slowdown is to produce the best possible product in the most cost effective and productive manner. The author emphasizes that bunker mentality should have no place during an economic downturn. He believes that manufacturers could see greater gains in productivity if they focus on asset management and product lifecycle management.
