Talking over patients: sTOP

The author reflects on the customary talking over different issues of medical personnel, which is overheard by patients. He contends that such behaviour of medical professionals is rude, unethical and hurtful to those overheard it, particularly patients who feel very dependent on others. He asserts that talking over patients is unethical and it violates the clinical ethics and autonomy principle. He adds the behavior is unprofessional because the circumstance is an unacceptable time and place.
