ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the condition of the mining industry in Silverton, Colorado. He emphasizes that the houses of the former mining officials were being renovated and auctioned at thousands of dollars. He adds that the restoration of the town has attracted more tourists and various second-home owners. He anticipates the possibility for the industry to rise again, as small company gears up to reopen a mill and some of the county's empty portals.
