How useful is uterine artery Doppler ultrasonography in predicting pre-eclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction?

The author reflects on the uses of uterine artery Doppler ultrasonography in diagnosing pre-eclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction in patients. She believes that Doppler ultrasonography of the uterine arteries is a promising technique for predicting perinatal complications. She also suggests that more research is needed to determine the ideal timing of uterine artery Doppler untrasonography and its ideal combination with other antenatal screening tests to improve perinatal results.
