The author reflects on the poor performance of sports footwear dollar sales in 2007 which requires intensive advertising by retailers and brands in the U.S. He assesses that the performance was resulted by the shift of consumer behavior which makes the back-to-school selling season less important, sees no need for boots until it gets cold and prefers to wear old shoes. He suggests the need for industries to offer great products everyday to keep customers intrigued and engaged.
