ABSTRACT
In this article, the author discusses whether or not a chief data officer (CDO) is needed to manage data enterprise. According to the author, the CDO is part of a company's executive management team and reports to either the chief technology officer (CTO) or chief executive officer (CEO). The author claims that in the last five years, data management has become more visible and crucial. The author says it is necessary to delegate the responsibility of data management to the executive level.
