ABSTRACT
The author comments on the study concerning the efficacy of drugs for diabetic neuropathy. He asserts that the finding that the tricyclic antidepressants, anticonvulsants, opioids and capsaicin are more effective than placebo in reducing pain was overestimated due to publication bias. He suggests that the future study should consider head-to-head comparisons, longer durations of follow-up and use of standardized and validated pain assessment scales to permit pooling of results across trials.
