ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the changes in the American Welding Society's (AWS) programs and activities to provide better opportunities in the U.S. welding industry. He reports the successful 2007 Annual Assembly and Show of AMS in Chicago, Illinois. He aims to get additional members for AWS at the local level in 2008 by establishing a Welder Workforce Development Program, organizing the Welding for the Strength of America Capital Campaign and merging of the AWS with the "Indian Welding Journal".
